There are three really important things to get clarity on when you are embarking on a room refresh or a complete home decor DIY makeover.

Deciding on how you want your home to feel is such an important ingredient in any makeover project.  What's at the top of your list?  Warm and welcoming? Joyful? Peaceful? Playful? Glamorous? Creative?

#2 CHOOSING A THEME

Having a unifying thread that plays out throughout your home decor is a way of making your interior decor feel integrated.  It could be the use of a unifying colour palette, or a pattern, or a subject theme like nautical, or florals

#3 STAMPING YOUR STYLE MARK

The third area to get really clear about is your preferred home decor style.  This is really quite pivotal as it will impact some of the larger furniture purchases you may need to complete your project. If you're not exactly sure what your home decor style is, Pinterest is a great place to start. Create a board and start pinning all the looks that appeal then go back and identify the dominant themes and prune out the outliers.
