Master Bedroom Makeover on a Budget Tips
I don't know about you, but my bedroom is my sanctuary. It feels like the one space in my home that I have free range to make it look and feel exactly the way I need it to for spring/summer and autumn/winter.
Here are some of my favourite home decor DIY tips to inspire you to create your own bedroom bliss.
Start with a splash of paint
It's amazing how transformative a coat of paint or wallpaper can be for a room. Even just a feature wall will do wonders for changing up your bedroom decor. When choosing colour, once again focus on how you want the room to feel - cool and calm, feminine, fresh or something a little more bold. Taking a look through your wardrobe to reflect on the colours you love to wear can also be a good source of inspiration.
Create beauty on the rebound
There's nothing better than securing a bargain from the weekend garage sale, Facebook market place or your local thrift shop and giving it a new lease of life. Upcycling has been embraced worldwide and if you have the will, there's a YouTube clip online that will help you create your very own masterpiece.
Let the floor show begin
These days there are so many more options available for floor coverings. Discover and follow some rug sellers online to catch their next major sale event. Mats made out of carpet remnants can often be secured for a bargain too. If colour choice has got you stumped, the best option I've ever invested in was the charcoal colour in this image.
Wrap yourself in linen love
Linen sheets have become quite the trend amongst decor enthusiasts and who could blame them. Having a natural, breathable fibre close to your skin is a luxury we all deserve. Thankfully, there are now a couple of local suppliers that have made it their mission to bring the price right down.
Add layers of texture and colour
One of the simplest ways to give your bedroom a makeover is to add layers of texture and colour. Decide on your colour palette and then look for complementary cushions, throws, ceiling or side table lamps, rugs and tabletop accessories. Some of these items can be upcycled, thrifted and repurposed for a new look.
Choose art that speaks to your soul
It wouldn't be a makeover without wall art and while the choice of colour is important from an aesthetic point of view, my key advice is to choose wall art that moves you. Art speaks to our emotions. It can make us feel inspired, calm, joyful, thoughtful so listen to what your heart is saying first when you choose your wall art.
