Spring Fling
As soon as those daffodil bulbs start coming out, Spring feels like it’s well on its way. Springtime always feels like a season of such growth and positive energy, so why not bring some of that flourish to your home décor with a spring fling.
Setting your style compass
Whether it’s a few energising edits or a full scale overhaul, 2022 trends are bringing our focus back to colour, natural textures and bringing the outside-in. Here are few of my favourite 2022 trends.
Go Green
Green is the colour of nature and is synonymous with a sense of calm and tranquillity. Subtle tones introduce an airy openness, while deeper shades add depth and definition to a space. Walls, furniture, glassware, ceramics, floor rugs and other soft accessories all offer up the opportunity to infuse calm and healing to a space. Embrace your inner naturalist and go green!
Go Jungalow
Justina Blakeney, owner of Los Angeles interior design business, Jungalow, has made this botanical aesthetic timeless and wildly appealing. At its core it consists of house plants, colour and pattern. This is no place for one note styling, it’s eclectic, joyful and high energy. Exactly what we all need to break free from our winter hibernation.
Sun-baked glory
New Mexico or Morocco may feel like a very long way away from New Zealand, but that doesn’t need to stop us from embracing the warm glow of their beautiful desert aesthetic. Staples of this look include white-washed walls, patterned kilim rugs, exposed wooden beams, and an array of rich, earthen hues that transition from dark terracotta through to a soft dusky rose. It’s laid back luxury that can be enjoyed all year round.
Renew and Recycle
If there is one trend that is here to stay, it’s breathing new life into what we already have. It could be a chair, a coffee table, a chest of drawers, but at the end of your recycling project you will have created a one-of-a-kind piece that will exactly match your space and will not make a dent in your finances.
Seasonal Wall Art
And finally, one of the easiest ways to re-energise a space is to change your wall art. Move your wall art around to house to give each space a breath of fresh air or have a set of spring/summer and autumn/winter art. Seasonal changeouts will help to give your art longevity and will also change up the mood in each space. Swapping out other accessories at the same time like throw pillows, glassware or ceramics can also really help to give new energy to a room for the new season.
Let the Spring Fling begin.
