Wall Art
It’s hard not to be biased about New Zealand wall art but in my opinion there is no better way to inject personality, passion and a point of view into a room than with wall prints. Cushions
One of the easiest and most affordable ways to change the mood of a room is to switch out your cushions. Cushions enable you to add a new colour palette or new textures to a room. This is particularly fun to do with a change of season. Investing in a quality cushion filler, like feathers, will not only feel so good, but it takes away storage issues if you are only swapping out the cover.
Rugs
Rugs are another wonderful multipurpose accessory to introduce into your home décor project. I like to think of rugs as art work for the floor so applying the same principles for selecting the best rug for your home as you would your wall art might assist your decision-making process. Rugs are also a wonderful room divider, particularly for open plan spaces. They help to create distinct zones – for example, relaxation zones versus walkways. Of course, they are also wonderful at introducing texture and softness to a space as well as another layer of warmth.Throw blankets
If your room is lacking some depth or texture, reach for a throw blanket. They’re also another method of tying together a colour palette or style theme in addition to adding a wonderful layer of warmth during the cooler months. However, throws aren’t just a winter accessory, different weights of throws can help to refresh your room with the change of season.
Dried floral arrangements
Forever flowers or dried flowers have come such a long way in the last five years. Nowadays you will struggle to open a home décor magazine, or visit a trendy restaurant of design store without stopping to swoon at another botanical wonder In the home environment, they not only create a beautiful focal point, but also add another layer of texture and colour to a space.
Lighting
While ceiling or pendant lighting can be a little bit too daunting and expensive to change out, floor or table lamps can be a great alternative to explore. To stop yourself being completely overwhelmed by choice, do a little bit of online research first. Jump on Pinterest to find home décor styles that are similar to what you want to create and see what sort of secondary lighting is being used. Once you have narrowed down your focus, check out some lighting stores online until you find one that has something similar. Shopping nightmare averted!
