Choosing the right frame for your art

Once you've made your art selection, the very next decision that needs to be made is how best to frame it.

And the Supporting Actor Award goes to ... The Frame

The most important consideration when it comes to wall art framing is that the art is the star of the show and the frame is the supporting actor. Frames should always complement and never overpower the wall art.

There is Beauty in Contrast

Having a contrasting colour as your frame colour can really make your artwork 'pop'. Adding a mat around the frame serves the same purpose; it helps the wall art to stand out. A mat and frame of the same colour can also reduce the intensity of a piece of wall art.

Location, Location, Location

Where you plan to locate your wall art is another key factor in the frame selection.

Are you a minimalist when it comes to home decor?  Are black, white and grey your favourite home decor colour palette? Or perhaps light, airy and coastal is more your thing?

Eclectic or uncluttered, your home decor style should factor into your choice of picture frame, particularly if you are looking for an integrated look for your wall art.

If in doubt, choose Black or White

Black, white or a light oak coloured picture frame are going to work with most interiors.  One thousand blooms offers Black, White and Oak Framing options on all wall art prints.

White will be your most subtle and low key framing option, particularly if you choose a mat to surround the art.  Black or Oak will offer a little bit of contrast to your wall art. Adding a white mat will help to accentuate that contrast even more.
