What’s trending in wall art in 2022
While wall art selection is almost always deeply personal rather than trend-inspired, it is always fun to explore what’s hot right now. Funnily enough, given the merry-go-round of the last two years, a need for calm, joy, and nature are recurring themes in the wonderful world of wall art.
Nature-inspired Art
When you are confined to barracks, an appreciation for the freedom, beauty and calming qualities of being amongst nature sky rockets. Whether it’s the calming blues of clouds in the sky, a beautiful sunset or sunrise or some floral divas, nature is ranking high in wall art circles in 2022.
A Minimalist State of Mind
While home décor trends have shifted from minimalist to maximalist, art is staying in the minimalist land, particularly for larger pieces. The benefits of keeping your art simple are vast; it plays nicely with the rest of the room, it is enduring and never goes out of fashion, and it soothes rather than assaults the senses.
Keep it Smooth and Curvaceous
Simple, modern, curves was a big trend in 2021 and it continues to be popular in 2022. It’s also a great way to play with some bolder colour blocks if you love a modern decor style.
Joy to the World and the Walls
Art that feels uplifting, joyful or even light-hearted is another key trend to embrace. This is a particularly important element to bring into your home office space or to your children’s bedrooms that often double as a classroom these days.
Neon Art
With so many more of us working and entertaining at home, neon art and signage has made a leap from its traditional commercial setting and gone residential. It’s quirky, and expressive and creates a great focal point for a living room or home office space. I have seed lighting in my office and every time I switch it on it definitely has a positive impact on my mental health.
Armchair Travel
For a country of travellers, having our borders closed has got us reaching out for visual reminders of the countries we can’t easily travel too. I know I am fixated by an Instagram page that delivers the most jaw-dropping images of Italy into my feed every day.
